A JOURNEY TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY AND CLIMATE NEUTRALITY

Since Gococo's inception in 2010, the environment and healthy working conditions have been important. Sustainability in the form of quality, raw materials, production and working conditions is and will always be a priority at Gococo and we are constantly making conscious decisions to become more sustainable.

As a small company in an industry where scale is the norm, achieving our vision of 100% climate neutrality is challenging. We are aware of the many opportunities for improvement, but we have our sights set on the goal and are enthusiastic about every step we take to get there.

DEGRADABLE AND GREEN TECHNOLOGY

Material choices that make a difference

In 2022, we began gradually replacing all 37.5® Technology yarns in our socks with biodegradable materials. The transition is expected to be complete in 2024. All materials in our products are ÖKO-TEX® certified and the wool we use in our accessories is now 100% traceable.

Sustainable production within the EU

We conduct regular visits to all factories we work with, which gives us deep insight into working conditions and the factories’ sustainability efforts. Our socks are manufactured in three different factories within the EU, all of which have clear goals to be among the most sustainable sock manufacturers in the world.

Our soft accessories are produced in a family-owned factory in Sri Lanka where we have established a close and personal relationship with the entire workforce.

European production for more sustainable logistics

Our socks are manufactured in Europe to minimize the distance to our main warehouse in Sweden.

All corrugated boxes are continuously recycled and plastic tape has been replaced with paper tape. In addition, our e-commerce packaging has been upgraded to recycled materials and paper, where possible.

Has your washing machine "eaten" a sock?

We know that socks wear out and, like underwear, they count as a consumable item. A completely natural life cycle for socks. But surely there is nothing more annoying than the socks that the washing machine seems to "eat"?! All too often you are left with only one sock that you no longer have use for.

Since this seems to be a constantly recurring problem with all our customers, we have now opened up the possibility of buying a sock, so that you can easily supplement the missing sock and not have to throw away the leftover one. Everything to increase the lifespan of the socks and minimize the use of the earth's resources!
